Customer Review: Two different models and different quality
There are two different versions of this system. One is terrific and one is the worst telephone system I have ever owned. The terrific system is model E5655, purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer, and the dreadful system is model E5965C, which is the model sold here on Amazon.

I came here looking for another handset for this phone. We have had the 2255 for about 2, maybe 3 years now. It has been highly reliable, good battery life (we replaced the first set about a year ago), survived two lightening strikes on our home (killed the PC, but not the phones), and generally works well for us. We do not really bring it out of range very often. I won’t say that it’s perfect, but I haven’t had a cordless phone that was. I think we realized the quality of the 2255 when my husband got a v-tech 2451 for a 5-year anniversary gift from work. That phone is awful - we can’t hear anyone on it, and usually have to switch to one of the AT&T handsets to talk. It also interferred with our wireless router, so we had to turn it off.

We have had this system for 3 years and am now shopping for a new system…one phone the number pads don’t work, on another phone the menu buttons don’t work.

The handset/cordless part seems to work just fine, however, the speakerphone on the base is terrible. Any time I use it people complain they can’t hear me (even w/ the volume up) or the sound comes in and out. So I have to pick up the receiver every time. I’m bummed b/c it’s the main reason I bought this phone. But if you don’t care about the speaker feature you’ll be in good shape.

Customer Review: Perfect choice!
We’ve owned the AT&T 3358 system for a couple of years now and couldn’t be happier with it. No brainer to install and very intuitive in it’s use. The signal remains strong all around the house from bedrooms to basement and even out on the patio…do distortion whatsoever. Answering machine is clear to hear, easy to operate. The only reason I didn’t go to “5″ stars is come on, nothing is perfect! My one, little petty gripe…I’d like some more attractive ring tones…see, I said petty.

Customer Review: Almost Perfect
I purchased this phone along with a second handset. What a tremendous improvement over my two-year-old Motorola system. The Motorola was 2.8 so it’s difficult to compare, but it simply was never comfortable to the ear, battery life was limited, it didn’t have much of a range and the construction simply fell apart.
This new AT&T system is nearly perfect. I especially like the fact that you can enter your complete address book on the base system and all of that info carries over to the handset(s)! It’s also is exceptionally comfort-fitting to the ear, easy to operate, and has a tremendous range. If I have any single complaint it is that there is no speed-dial; locating a phone number takes several key strokes and then yet another to dial the number. But that is a minor concern. In total, I highly recommend this product! No option for 4.5, but that’s my rating.

this unit performs as expected BUT interface is very unintuitive. The manual is the usual amount of little help. for example, hard to figure out where the “hold” function is for those of us used to a “hold” button. The cordless satellite station works well and is a welcome feature.
