Great, basic phone that also does the little things…Caller ID, phone directory, programming, etc. You can’t beat it for the price…quality, style are both excellent. AT&T is generally very reliable.
Customer Review: Sleek design, poor sound quality
Synopsis: Space-saving base design, but poor sound quality (for person you are calling) and frequent bouts of interference have forced me to send this product back. The Good: * Compact design of base allows for easy placement in tight areas. * Backlit display The Bad: * People I have called with this phone complained that voice clarity and volume was lower than usual. * Interference was prominent when in a different room from the base; static is worse when near electric appliances (i.e., computer monitor, microwave) This phone has similar levels of interference as my old Panasonic 900 MHz phone. I have also tried the Motorola MA351 2.4 GHz phone. Neither phone has been spectacular.

Waste of money. This is the first time I’ve bought an AT&T product; and will never do so again. All the other reviews summed up every reason why not to buy this piece of junk.

I’m sticking with Panasonic. Over 20 years of reliable good phones from them; it was a mistake for me to try this set. (Yes, it was on sale…lol!)
Customer Review: Button trouble
The buttons on this phone are very hard to use. Sometimes you have to push them down really hard and press squarely in the middle. With other buttons if you do this you will dial the same number twice. This thing can be very frustrating. Does anyone have a key pad that works well?

Don’t buy this phone..it’s useless. The first phone lasted 9 months. It was replaced by the manufacturer with the same model. It has worked fine for 2 years..and now nothing. Replaced the batteries, no good. Can’t make a call, makes a lot of noise on the receiver…people can’t call me…what a waste of money this was…I threw it away.

Don’t bother to go near this phone, unless you want to use this as a answering machine. Handset continously looses connection with base unit and makes wierd noises while talking.

Answering machine functionality is OK. Sometimes it wouldn’t even show the caller ID.

Customer Review: Interference from wireless router
I bought this phone for my home office.
The cordless phone has major interference from my wwireless internet router. I was on the phone with phone company for 6 hours and even had a tech come to my house.
The only way to resolve the problem is to unplug the router.
I would not buy this phone if you are worried about interference.

Customer Review: Simply the best cordless phone out there right now!
This cordless phone system is simply the best I’ve ever come across and I’ve had a few Unidens, Panasonics, GE’s, Sonys, and others. It is missing a few features found in some other phones, but if you don’t need to share your phone book with all the extensions it’s all good.

Battery charge life is so-so, but not a problem unless you spend most of your life on the phone.

SQ is crystal clear and rage is quite amazing. I can walk almost 1/8 mile from my house and maintain clarity.

Buy this phone system before it becomes unavailable!!

Customer Review: Two different models and different quality
There are two different versions of this system. One is terrific and one is the worst telephone system I have ever owned. The terrific system is model E5655, purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer, and the dreadful system is model E5965C, which is the model sold here on Amazon.

The model sold by Hammacher Schlemmer is about half the size and bulk of the model sold here. As others have written, the model sold here, even a well-charged phone, repeatedly goes dead in the middle of conversations. I own both the system and the accessory phone, and both are dreadful. In the Hammacher Schlmmer version, the phone is perfect.

Customer Review: Too many disappointments
Others have written about this phone not holding the charge, and I agree! I can’t tell you how many times a call has gone dead in the middle of a conversation, with no warning, no low battery message. I’ve only had the phone since November. There is not a quick, convenient way to redail numbers–you have to choose from a list of options, 1-plus number, or the area code without the 1, or no 1 and no area code. No easy way to speed dial. Range is disappointing. I’m looking for a new phone. Back to Uniden or Panasonic.

Customer Review: Halfway decent cord/cordless combo w/ a few issues
Pros;
1. Corded base w/ speakerphone & answerer,
2. Two cordless handsets,
3. Easy to see number pads on both the base and the handsets,
4. Decent speakerphone audio quality, especially with the handsets. Above average.

Cons:
1. No hold button. If you are using the base and want to go to a portable handset, you have to use the intercom transfer feature to call a handset (assuming you know which one you want and where it is), but after picking up the handset, the base doesn’t disconnect automatically unless someone is there to do so. You then get a awlful feedback untill you ‘hang up’ the base speakerphone.
2. No message indicator (you can’t see from a distance if there are any messages). Only a very small message counter that is hard to see. The ‘beep’ function is very soft and can only be heard nearby if it is quiet.
3. Function buttons text size is small on the base.
4. No menu navivation control like the handset has on the base.
5. The time/day has to be reset if you loose power even though there are batteries in the base.

Customer Review: It has been very good
I came here looking for another handset for this phone. We have had the 2255 for about 2, maybe 3 years now. It has been highly reliable, good battery life (we replaced the first set about a year ago), survived two lightening strikes on our home (killed the PC, but not the phones), and generally works well for us. We do not really bring it out of range very often. I won’t say that it’s perfect, but I haven’t had a cordless phone that was. I think we realized the quality of the 2255 when my husband got a v-tech 2451 for a 5-year anniversary gift from work. That phone is awful - we can’t hear anyone on it, and usually have to switch to one of the AT&T handsets to talk. It also interferred with our wireless router, so we had to turn it off.

The AT&T does have some idiosyncracies - every so often it will just start beeping for no reason. If you don’t seat the handset in the charger just right, it will not charge, and you will have a dead phone - look for the charge light. Also, this might contribute to battery life being poor because you never fully charge the phone back up. I think once we realized that the handset didn’t seat perfectly everytime, and we took the extra 2 seconds to make sure it was charging, we never experienced dead phones again.
